FREIGHT PACKAGING
Freight Packaging Preparation
Freight Shipping Guide
Correct packaging safeguards your cargo during transit. Most damage claims are due to incorrect wrapping. These errors may eliminate or reduce your transporter’s liability.
Proper Packaging
All packaging is contingent upon the product being shipped. Make sure to use crates, cartons, cages or drums for ultimate protection. Another effective tactic is to cover the cargo with blankets or some type of cushioning material.
A few great ways to secure your products together on the pallets are to use stretch wrap (shrink wrap), banding, etc. Good packaging practices will also aid in the “cube” effect of your shipment, which makes it easier to more on one load.
Pallet Stacking
Make sure to stack the cargo squarely on the pallet without any overhang. Try and make the top surface as flat as you can. Secure the cargo to the skid with metal or plastic banding.
If you don’t properly stack the freight, then damage may occur.
