Any applicant in the above classification must form part of a similar household as the BNO citizen.
What are the requirements for a BNO visa?
Applicants have to:
- Achieve the appropriate requirements. This rule can be overblown by immigration or criminality issues.
- Must manifest that they are a BNO status holder. Or a correct relation of the BNO status holder, sharing a similar household, and
- Be a regular resident in Hong Kong, if applying for entry clearance
- Be a common resident in the UK, Jersey, Guernsey, the Isle of Man, or Hong Kong. Once applying for consent to stay.
- Give evidence that they’re free from tuberculosis.
- Prove that they accommodate and acceptability maintain themselves and any dependents. Without recourse to public funds, this rule is met automatically. Once they have been living in the UK for almost 12 months before applying.
What conditions are linked to a British National Overseas (BNO) visa?
A BNO visa will allow you to:
- Live in the UK
- work including voluntary work and self-employment, except for employment as a professional sportsperson. Including as a sports coach; and
- Study in the UK.
How long is the validity of British National Overseas (BNO)?
You can select whether you want to apply for a 30 month (2.5-year) or 5-year under this classification. The Immigration Health Surcharge or application fees are payable.
